Abstract

DevPal is a cross-platform mobile application developed by students at the Informatics Faculty in the Autonomous University of Querétaro. Its main purpose is to connect people interested in Information Technology with nearby relevant events such as hackathons, conferences, workshops and contests. A recurring obstacle to participation in the technology community is the lack of awareness about available events, combined with the absence of a centralized platform for personalized dissemination. DevPal addresses this problem by combining a geolocation-based event discovery system, a daily coding challenge module powered by Google Gemini's generative AI API, and an experience-point gamification system. Partial results show that the proposed architecture, built on FastAPI, React Native, and PostgreSQL, enables efficient delivery of contextualized content. The platform is under active development and represents a contribution to the dissemination and strengthening of the IT community beyond the academic context.
