This study analyzes the influence of collaborative work on project-based learning (PBL) among second-semester students of Computer Systems Engineering at the National Technological Institute of Mexico, Alvarado campus. A mixed-methods approach was used, integrating qualitative and quantitative techniques through questionnaires and a 25 students focus group. The results show that collaborative work promotes meaningful learning, as well as the development of social, cognitive, and professional competencies. However, difficulties were identified related to team organization, task distribution, communication, and time management. Despite these limitations, most students perceive a positive influence of collaborative work on their learning. It is concluded that PBL, supported by well-structured collaborative dynamics, is an effective teaching strategy to strengthen the teaching-learning process in higher education.
