Abstract

This study reports a quasi-experimental design (pre-test/post-test, n = 120) aimed at analyzing the impact of a pedagogical strategy that articulates the Workshop model (Ander-Egg, 1999) with Project-Based Learning in the teaching of trigonometry through visual programming. Fifth-semester students from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Preparatory School (BUAP), divided into an experimental group (n = 65) and a control group (n = 55), developed a mobile application in MIT App Inventor as an integrative product for plotting polar equations, Lissajous curves, and Maurer roses. Evaluation through instrumental triangulation revealed that 80% of students lacked prior knowledge of the content at baseline; by the end of the intervention, 95% reported consolidated learning, 95% of portfolios reached a very good or excellent level, and 92% of Likert-scale assessments rated the strategy as highly adequate. A Student's t-test confirmed a large effect size (t = 8.74, p < 0.001, d = 1.23), supporting the feasibility of integrating mobile programming with trigonometry instruction.
